About Kullik Ilihakvik
Mission Statement:
Our mission is to provide a positive and safe learning environment that enriches all students' physical, social, emotional, and intellectual well-being.
The staff, students and parents of Kullik Ilihakvik honour our Inuit values and beliefs. We practice co-operation, teamwork and respect towards ourselves, those around us, and our environment.
General Description:
Kullik Ilihakvik has an energetic student population that is excited about learning. Each day is a new adventure that brings challenges and rewards. The majority of our students are Inuit. But our school is also home to students from many places across Canada, as Cambridge Bay is the regional centre of the Kitikmeot.
English is the primary language of many of our students. However, unlike the majority of the territory, the traditional language spoken in Cambridge Bay is Inuinnaqtun, rather than Inuktitut. Our school programming reflects this cultural difference and there is a strong effort in our school to promote the revitalization of Inuinnaqtun.
