About Ulaajuk School

Our school has about 250 students and a staff of about 23.

Our staff has identified three key goals to support our students' learning. These are:

  • improve literacy levels within the school
  • improve attendance
  • strengthen our language of instruction

To support these goals, we:

  • are incorporating strategies such as the Picture Word Induction Model and Picturing Writing.
  • have formed school teams to foster a sense of school identity, develop student motivation and promote attendance
  • use a qulliq language of instruction model where students in the primary grades receive the majority of their classes in Inuktitut
  • incorporate Elders into our school activities
